Admission Requirements for Bachelor of Engineering

Candidates can join the B. Eng (NTA Level 7- 8) programmes offered by DIT through either the Direct Entry Scheme or Access Course.

Direct Entry Scheme

In order to qualify for admission to B. Eng (NTA Level 7- 8) programmes, a candidate must be in possession of a good FTC certificate with an average of minimum pass of C grade or an average of 3 points based on the following conversion scale: A = 5, B = 4, C = 3, D = 2 in the respective field or its equivalent from a recognised institution.

Holders of Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) in the combination of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) or Physics, Geography and Mathematics (PGM) with Principal Pass in Mathematics and Physics from the same sitting with a total of no t less than 4.5 points based on the following conversion scale: A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1, S = 0.5, F= 0 may apply for admission into the B. Eng in Computer Engineering and Electronics & Telecommunications Engineering and must undergo a 14 technical skills weeks bridging course before being fully admitted to the Bachelor degree programme.

Access Courses Scheme

There are two categories of candidates that may be admitted to join B. Eng (NTA Level 7-8) programmes through this scheme. In order to qualify for the B.Eng access programme (Pre Entry 1), a candidate must be an FTC holder with minimum pass of an average of not less than 2.5 points based on the following conversion scale: A = 5, B = 4, C = 3, D = 2 1.

Pre- Bachelor in Engineering (NTA Level 7- 8) Entry Course for Female Candidates

The objective of this scheme is to improve gender balance amongst the DIT students by assisting potential female candidates who do not qualify under the Direct Entry Scheme (scored below the prevailing Cut-Off Point) to qualify for admission. Under this programme, a female candidate is required to follow and successfully complete an upgrading course. Upon successful completion of the course, i.e. passing in all the prescribed subjects, the candidate qualifies for the Government Loan (HESLB), subject to availability. In order to qualify for this Pre - B.Eng Entry Course, a female candidate must possess a Full Technician Certificate with a minimum pass of ā€œDā€ grade or an average of 2 .0 points based on the following conversion scale: A = 5, B = 4, C = 3, D = 2 2.

Pre- Bachelor in Engineering (NTA Level 7-8) Entry Programme for General Candidates

This scheme is similar to 3.2.2 (i) above but it is mainly aimed at the private or third party sponsored students. Under this category, candidates who do not qualify under the Direct Entry may be admitted after attending an upgrading course and obtaining pass marks in all the prescribed subjects at the end of course examination.
