The Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT) is an Institution of Technical Education which was established in 1997 through an Act of Parliament and it is fully accredited by the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) to offer technician and engineering programmes leading to the qualifications of National Technical Awards Level 6 (Ordinary Diploma) and 8 (Bachelor of Engineering) respectively. These programmes are competence based.

Along with the introduction of the new Curricula, the previous curricula leading to Full Technician Certificate and Advanced Diploma in engineering have already been phased out.

DIT is collaborating with Leeds Metropolitan University (Leedsmet) in delivering a Masters degree in Facilities Management in Tanzania via e- Learning. Besides, the Institute is comprehensively networked with fibre optic cables and wireless hotspots.

The Institute is still undergoing transformation to match with the envisaged expectations and aspirations of the Tanzania as expressed in the Vision and Master plan of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology and Higher Education and and in line with the Tanzanian Development Vision 2025.

Our ultimate goal is to transform our Institution to a World class Centre of Excellence in Engineering, Applied Sciences and Entrepreneurship.
